Starbase is a hybrid voxel/vertex-based space MMO with a fully destructible and infinitely expanding universe, with a focus on building and designing spaceships and stations, exploration, resource gathering, crafting, trading, and combat. It is available on PC in Early Access as of Summer 2021.
Starbase was at the time the biggest project the studio has ever worked on. It’s the first MMO and live ops game.
The style guide I created for Trine 4 was implemented and expanded upon to accommodate a much larger design team. This significantly cut back the need of the involvement of the art team for each menu screen – instead of having to do high-fidelity mockups of each screen, they only needed to add missing UI elements to the system as needed. This also helped create cohesion in the UI design as each designer had a clear template to follow.
To help us transition from closed alpha to early access, I created an in-game feedback tool with which players could let us know of any issues. It can be edited on the fly by our designers and has streamlined the process of reporting bugs, glitches, and other issues in the game and helping players recover from them. It also had the ability to build in-game surveys which could be used when scaling up our user research efforts.
